And the Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down.

Howdy ho neighborenos.
Today it was raining pretty good. I am sure glad I do not live where my niece lives in Liberty. Liberty is a subburb of Kansas City.  They live around 1 1/2 - 2 hours away from us. Anyway they had a microburst about midnight. Power is off from Highway 152 - 291. On the interstate that is just 1 exit to the other one, but there are alot of streets between the two. The electric company wasn't sure if they would get everyone on by 8 o'clock tonight according to the news.

We have had some nice rain here. I am ancious to go to the lake tonight to see how far up the water has come this week. If we can see the sticks that people put on the banks to hold their poles it will only be the very tippy top of them I imagine.

Scott is going to take me fishing while he helps set up things with the boy scouts. We don't live that far away from the lake that he will bring me back into town tonight and then go back and camp out with the boys. They are going to do a daycamp thing with the Cub Scouts because they didn't get to enjoy the one that the district put on.

Sam will probably be working on his derby cars again this weekend. He has 2 more weeks to get his cars ready. He is quite ancious to get them done. He will be tweeking with them probably until the last minute knowing him.

Labor Day weekend will be a busy weekend. My brother and his wife and kids are coming to visit. My inlaws will be coming to visit. The weekend is the All School Reunion. We probably are not going. They will have their own tent set up at the fair. We might pop in if we get our tickets to go see REO Speedwagon. Not sure if that is even going to happen. Sunday the inlaws are planning a family dinner, but we won't be there because the derby starts at 12:30 so we will already be at the fair grounds. I do not know what time the others will come in on Scotty's side of the family. He has 2 sibs that live in KC and one that lives in Omaha. His oldest brother lives just a few miles from us.
KC is a big big city. You can see our niece that lives in Liberty in 1 1/2 hours and it is another hour away from her to go and see my husband's bro and sister. Niece lives on one edge of town they live on the other edge.

I am glad that I will be at the derby though. I love my inlaws and everything, but when we all get together there are almost 30 of us in my mother in laws house. It can be quite an experience. You can't tell by looking at her house on the outside, but it really is kind of small for all of us. It will be ok though we generally get along for the most part.

My brother lives in Jefferson City. If he drives through KC it is about a 5 hour trip. If he goes the back way it cuts down to about 4 4 1/2 hours. I like the back way he likes to drive through KC. Hopefully he will be able to see Sam derby on that Sunday. It should be quite an interesting weekend. I will have to get myself mentally prepared now because that is going to be alot of running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Oh well, I will just seek out my mom if that happens.

My grandmother lived on a farm and in the summer you would have to thin down your chickens to one or two roosters when you bought chicks in the spring. My mom hated to this time of the year because when dad would cut the chickens head off it would go to where my mom was every single time. She would be in the farthest part of the yard and opposite corner of where dad would be and it would go to where she was. Once she decided to stay in the house and watch out the back door and it flopped to the back door. We laughed our butts off listening to her scream. This is why I will seek my mom out if I have to run around Labor Day weekend like a chicken with my head cut off.

SO what are your plans for Labor Day weekend?
Oh,  and here are the pictures of the scarf I promised.

A Couple of New Creations

Well, I got the cell phone holders done, the chain link scarf  done  and the purple hat with the fun fur trim done.

I really hope that more people will order the cell phone holders. I know cigerettes are a bad habit, but those things are big enough to hold a pack of cigs with your cell phone plus a couple of other items.

The chain link scarf is the black plush yarn by red heart. It is very pretty if I do say so myself. I will have to get a pic of it taken before I deliver it. I really like how it turned out.

The purple hat is great. Of course I love it because it is purple.

What a fun last couple of days. We thought the cylinoid went out on the truck. Poor Scotty went nuts on us Tues. because of it. Tues. was a bad day for him all the way around. Got to work and someone had unlocked his tool box and dumped his tools into the trash can. They had some safety issues on one of the machines that holds these big air conditioning units up. These units are the ones that go on hotels, hospitals, or any big high rise building. The machine that holds up the units needs to be used properly, or they could kill someone if they fell on them.  The big crane was broke down. I think that 2nd and 3rd shift is doing some sabatoge on things. They are stupid because if they would just realize they are hurting themselves with other companies coming in. They are watching the work force. 2nd and 3rd shift guys are usually ones that haven't been there but a year or two, and they are the younger ones of the crowd. Any how Sam went over and put the new cylinoid on the truck and it still wouldn't work. My mom took him over because Scotty said one thing on the phone and called 4 hours later and bitched us out because we didn't do another. Mom took Sam over and Sam and her ended up buying a battery. That is what it was. Sam used the truck Tues. night and the throttle stuck open on it so Scotty and Sam fixed it yesterday. They also worked on a couple of derby cars.

Now Scotty is over his mad. I knew it wouldn't last long. Thank God. I also realized what it actually was. We were supposed to be praying about the new Pastor at our church Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday he was to give his decision. Well Scotty didn't get a chance to pray because he was under attack. He had his mind on other things. I finally got a chance to see it and Angelica said, "Yes, that is what is going on."  I know I told Scotty that is what it was, but I don't know if he really believed me.

We do have a new Pastor. His name is Teddy Ridenour from Colorado. His wife, Vickie is really friendly, but I didn't get a chance to talk to him one on one. We will get our chance to visit with him after he gets here in 3 weeks. He likes to fish so maybe this will be something that Scotty will be able to have something in common with him about.

Our friend Anita came by last night and gave me a bunch of material. This box was huge. It had some crochet thread in it, a few pieces of yarn in it and some crocheted collars in it, plus a crochet poncho for a little girl. I am going to get the collars and the poncho washed up and list them on etsy. They really are nice looking. I wish I had a wig head or a torso manacan so that I can show those collars off better. Anita got this box at an auction either for a $1 or free. I can't remember what it was for sure. She said she would take it all since it was the right price. Now I need to figure out what to do with the material. I mean there is alot of it. I may just wash it up and list it under supplies. Probably the best way to do it. There is a bunch of quilted fabric in there. I do have to make a lady a church a thing for her walker and she wanted it out of quilted fabric. God did provide this material for that. God is a great provider even for the littlest thing.

Well I am off. I have a few things to do today. I need to take more pics of scrunchies and get my afghan done. I only have 13 days to get it finished so that I can get it entered into the fair.

Blessings from Heaven.

Well I have been busy in the last week or so getting ready for the Church Wide Rummage Sale and Hog Roast. I did make a couple of sales and I did get a couple of orders. That was so exciting. I handed Etsy cards out for other Etsy people. I think I even got a couple of people to sign up for Etsy. That was so cool. One lady I looked right at her and said, "Have I got an online shopping center for you." I could just tell by her looks that she would love Etsy.

I have a hat on the Knifty Knitter. I had made a mago color hat with eyelash fun fur around the bottom. She said I want a purple one. I told her that I would make it if she was ordering it. I will get it finished today and start on the other scarf I have ordered. I also need to sew buttons on the 4 cell phone holders that someone ordered and get them listed for her. It has taken awhile, but it looks like my store might be going to take off here before to long. I need to start crocheting some more purses  that are bigger and with more fun fur on them. I gave my model a purse for being my model. It is orange and has orange fun fur all over it. She took it on a cruise with her parents and people were wanting to know where she got it. If they could get one and everything. I have my cards ready to go now, and she will be getting a buttload of them for school. They have all asked at school about it.

I also am going to make somemore scrunchies. I think the cheerleaders will go nuts over them. I will have to get the school colors around and start making them. 3 schools in the area have green as their colors so I know I need to get a lot of green. Our colors are purple and white. It will be fun trying to get them done. Just typing this out is giving me an idea on who and what girls I am going to be giving a little locker size poster to for the inside of their lockers so I can advertise at school.

Cool. Now I am off to figure out the poster.

Well, I should talk about other things that have happened. Not much has gone on around here. They have started moving the machinery out of the plant where Scotty works. Everyone is depressed about it of course.

We voted on a new minister last night at church. He wants to give his answer in 48 hours. The vote was 26 yes and 13 no's. It had to be 2/3rds majority of present members. If it would have been 100% then we would have known for sure it was God's will, but now we have to be in prayer about it and seek God to find out for sure. It could be a very trying 2 days.

Sam is registered for school. He is taking auto mechanics and welding this year. They are wanting to keep him in school so they gave in to him taking those classes. The VoTech didn't care if he was in them. That is more money in their pockets. He has been working on his demo car for the derby Labor Day weekend. My brother might be here to see him crash the wagon up more. I don't know if we will get it painted red, but Christine will be painted on it somewhere. Scotty is going to run the Crown Vic that Sam ran in Winston. It will be fun watching those two square off against one another. They will do it just to knock the other one out and say, "I kicked your ass big time." I know them both toooo well.

We got more rain yesterday, and last week. We went fishing Friday night and there was a good rise in the water level. It really was nice to see. I am ancious to go out and see how high the water level was from the rain last night and this morning.

Well, now I am off to design my posters and card holders for the girls.

August 02

My life lately.

Well it has been a busy last couple of weeks. I will start with the day before my son moved back home...YEAH!!!

Friday, July 21st.
Scott got home and we went fishing. We went out to Walmart and bought some lighted bobbers. We wanted to stay out late and fish. We went and got some live bait. Gold fish and silver minnows. Guess who had to bait the hooks because they figured out how to bait them without the fish flying off of the hook when you went to cast. Yep, it was me!! I love telling everyone that I can't enjoy fishing with my husband because I have to bait his hook. It gets a good laugh from everyone.
Anyway, it was getting dark and Scotty decided he had had enough fishing for the evening. I was getting my rods together and my bobber went down. I grab the rod that had my gold fish hooked on and tried to reel it in. My line got all tangled up so while I am untangling the line the fish breaks the line. Here you see this little lighted up red bobber going deeper and deeper into the lake. We watched the light swim away for awhile.
I was agrivated because of what happened, but we made up a good story about it so we had a good laugh. I said the fish brough his fish wife home a present. Scotty said he was a the bar completely wasted. Instead of coming home with the lamp shade he came home with the whole freaking lamp.
I told this story to my brother in law. He said, "It must have been a big fish." I said, "Yes, everytime I tell the story it will be." LOL

Sat, July 22nd.
He got home and we all loaded up and went fishing. We didn't catch much, but we did have a lot of fun together. His girlfriend, Kassie, dropped her phone into the lake, but Sam got it out before it sank. It still works. I wore a tank top and got a really bad sun burn. Oh my gosh, I know how a turkey feels like at Thanksgiving. My wings were burnt bad. I was in so much pain it wasn't even funny.

About 12 Sunday morning Sam got a distressing text from a friend of his. His cousins had drowned Sat. morning about 3 am in the lake at their home. Sam was really good friends of these boys. These boys were brothers. They were almost like brothers to him. It was a very rough week  for him. He asked and begged for us to let him to go to Colorado with the family for their funerals. We let him go. The family was asking also. It wasn't like we let him force himself on them.

We bought a new pick up this week. It is a Ford Ranger. Don't ask me what year because I don't remember....lol We got it because the wagon was eating us alive in gas.
I was also told about this great stuff on Monday for my sun burn. It is called Ocean Potion. Oh my God, THank you for the inventors of this stuff. It only took 2 days for this burn to cool down and stuff when I used it. It had been sooooo hot to the touch. I was miserable. Scotty helped me put it on and he said when he put the next application on he could tell a big difference in the temp of my arms. I am telling you get some Ocean Potion now and have it on hand.

Friday, July 28th
Sam left with the family to Colorado. He called several times on his trip. If we weren't home he would call my mom. He was drinking those energy drinks like crazy. They said he had one every hour. By the time he got here they said he was laughing like an idiot. This child is not his mother. If I know the ride is going to be for a long time I am asleep within 15 minutes of starting a trip. They said he was so wound up it wasn't even funny. They got their about 3am Sat. morning.

Sat. July 29th
Sam called and said he got ahold of my cousin,Lon.  They had a nice visit.
We went fishing, but it was so hot that they weren't biting very well. When Sam got done with his visit with Lon we weren't home so he called my mom. She said he was wound up from the visit.

Sun, July 30th
Not much went on. Sam was still in Colorado. We went to church and went fishing.

Mon, July 31st
We had to buy a new cell phone. Found out that Sam broke his cell phone so he is using our old one. We bought a Boost Mobile prepay. Once we get it figured out it looks like a pretty cool phone.

Tues, Aug. 1st
Sam is home. Woo hoo. He started working on his demo car. Scotty came home from work and was just a puddle. It has been so hot here it wasn't even funny.

Wed, Aug 2nd
It rained this evening. I am so happy that it rained. The temp. has been in the 100's lately. I hope with the rain that it won't get hot and muggy tomorrow.

That pretty well has been my week. Kind of boring, but that has been about it. I have done some crocheting and knitting on my knifty knitter. I helped Kassie make a hat and scarf for her little sister. She was so proud of herself for making the hat. I put the yarn on the knifty knitter for her for the hat and got it started. I tied the knot at the top, and finished weaving the ends in for her. She called her mom so tickled with herself for making the hat, and is pretty excited about making the scarf. I don't know if she is going to give it to her for Christmas or what, but her little sister will have a scarf and hat from her big sister.

Well I am going to post this and turn off the puter. The lightening is getting pretty wicked out there.

I'm Singing in the rain.
Just singing in the rain.
What a glorious feeling I'm happy again..

Oh by the way Jess. Thanks for not being selfish with the rain.

So Hubby, What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

The Missouri Career Center was in yesterday to let everyone know what their options are when they get layed off. I am glad that they came in so early. Scotty came home from work with a stack of books and pamplets for us to go through. Of course when I say us I mean me. I will glean what I can from them, and point out some things that he needs to know. They even gave a pamplet that is aimed at the spouse of the person losing their job.

Scotty understood that they will help you while you are in school or getting different training. That will be great. We also know how much we will get a week for unemployment and what will effect it. It does help to know where we are going to stand with all of this. Scotty said that he would like to go back to school and be trained in something. I looked at him and said, "So hunny, what do you want to be when you grow up?" He still has no idea what it is...lol He said he could go and train to be a po po so that he could harass Sam and his buddies on the weekends. He really has so many options, but he doesn't know what he really wants to do. I am going to give him time and pray that God will show him what He wants him to do. I will also pray that God will show Scotty where his strengths are so that he will be blessed in his next career. I want him to be able to come home and have a big smile on his face because he enjoyed his day so much. It will be hard to be a 48 yr old man and having to start all over again and figure out what it is he really wants to do. I don't think anyone ever gave him the encouragement that he needed to figure it out. I pray that he will figure it out.

If you are young start figuring out what you want to be when you grow up. Don't wait until you are my husband's age to try and figure it out. IF you have to work while figuring it out don't settle because you have a job and jobs are hard to find. Take your time, but figure it out.

I am going to leave you with a question to ponder.

So, what do you want to be when you grow up?
July 18

Sambosmom is no more

I realize that Sam has been my life for soooo long. He was a pleasant surprise because neither one of us really thought we could have any kids. Both Scott and I have problems. Well, this little empty nest that we had for the spring did get me to realize that, "Hey, you are not only a mom. YOu are a wife, friend and lover to a great guy. You need to also be a friend to yourself." It has been a growing experience. I am still not where I should be with it, but hey, that is what happens when you grow. You learn to let God take control and you do it on His time not yours. Sometimes I want to take that clock of God's and move the hands so it is faster, but that doesn't help the situation.

Now Sam is coming home. He is going to go to school and learn Auto Mechanics this year. Hopefully he has gotten some of his growing and rebelling out of the way, but I am still praying that God will not give him any rest until he gets to where God wants him to be. I am sure we will have more rebelling because we all rebel at something.

Scotty is just a great guy. I love him. He tolerates things in me that I wonder why the heck he does. He is my friend and defender really that is all I can ask. I really ask about other thing from him, but I don't want that to be public knowledge. Know what I'm saying...lol We have taken this time to get to know each other more this summer than we have been. We kind of fell away from being Scott and Lori as a couple. It was nice getting reaquainted. God had this planned out though. He knew we were going to need this coming together because the months ahead are going to be hard with the plant closing down. We are all going to have to unite as one when this happens. Sam included.

I have learned that you have to be true to God first, then yourself. It really has been a rough road trying to get there. One of Sam's friend's mom came up to me at a yard sale and started asking me, "Don't you miss your baby?" and all of that. It was like ripping the scab off and rubbing salt and pouring rubbing alcohol into that wound. I got through it though. I prayed an God said, "Don't worry. I have everything under control." I know that God has everything under control. It is a huge relief to know that I don't have to manipulate everything for it to go my way. All I can pray is, God you know how I want it to go, but I want it how you want it to go. Your ways are best. And they are.

I have grown as a person, and in my friendships. I have had to prune the tree, so to speak, so that I can get rid of some of the bad stuff in my life. I was talking to a friend from church the other night. We have had some major changes at church. People are leaving who are making great contributions to the church. Spiritually as well as everything else. I told her that God has to prune the good to sometimes get to the dead limbs in the middle of a tree or bush. Sometimes what is perceived as dead just needs a little more energy that the tree can give in order to become alive again.
So my well was running dry and my tree was dieing because I was expending energy on dead things instead of where it needs to be. I am still doing it some, but I am getting better at it. I have more of my energy that is going towards what is good in my life. I have made some great friends in real life and on the internet. I plan on keeping as many of them as I can, but when fall comes and our season is over together I hope that you will take what you can from our time together and learn from me as well as I have from you.

So Sambosmom is still around when she needs to be, but I am not going to make her my identity anymore. When you see Sambosmom around it is because I just didn't feel like changing that link...lol I was being lazy. My new identity is Faith In Above. Because with Faith in God Above I know all things are possible.

How stupid can people be.

Found the paycheck. It was in a bank that we hadn't used for years. The reason the paychecks were messed up was because when they transfered the computer files they went back over 5 years in the files. They went and used the old information on people. They said that the lady that typed all of this in quit because of it. I think she was asked to resign. Oh well, it was a normal paycheck this week. Not one person had any problems with getting their money. That we know of anyway.

I finally finished Laura's garters. The hardest part about them is getting them sewed together and hiding the extra thread on the ends. The blue garter I have had finished for awhile. The white one I just finished Sat. completely. Our Walmart sucks on ribbon flowers. I couldn't find any ribbon roses at all. They said all they carry are the small paper roses. You can't put paper roses on garters or anything nice and expect them to be a nice keepsake for someone. Stupid Walfart.

Sammy is coming home for good. His boss had to lay off some people and since school will be starting soon he was one of them. He has a friend that works at Wendy's and his friend said that he could help him get on there. Didn't make him a happy camper, but with the tattoo on his wrist he can pretty well expect that. He also has to cut off his mohawk. Momma and Kassie both are doing a happy dance. You would think that the girlfriend would get him to change his mind about his hair, but she couldn't. When we heard he was going to have to cut his hair we both pumped our arms and said, "Yes!"  Hopefully I will get a pic of him in his hawk before the cutting.

Poor kid lost his cat last week. I don't know what happened, but when we seen him he was having a seizure, and it was late enough that the vets were closed. He started coming around and we put him in a basket . Skunkboy kept jumping out of the basket so we turned the basket over him because we wanted him to stay in one spot and didn't want to hurt him by stepping on him during the night. Sam called to talk to his dad and we told him about his cat. "Let me know if he changes and I will be right home." He called an hour later for me to check on him and he had died. "Don't touch him. I will come right home and bury him. It was a very touching scene on how he lovingly put him in the blanket and wrapped him up. He just wanted his daddy with him when he buried him. So it was the two of them that buried him. We have several kittens and 4 adult cats in the house now. We are getting rid of kittens all except Braveheart. She looks like our Sassy. Sam would like to keep her. We have 2 of her sibs given away already as soon as they are old enough. I will wait until the first of Aug. to get rid of them. That leaves one other kitten. Plus I have 3 of my mom's mean kittens here. I am going to be getting them a new home, too. They are wild. My mom didn't handle them much because her momma cat would go after you protecting them. I would handle them when I could while I was over there, and when momma cat came at me she would get whomped.
The kitties all look like the kitties on my msn background.
Well Sam checked Sassy and Mr. Jingles out. He wanted to make sure that they were ok. He was always saying that he didn't like the cats and we were going to get rid of all of them except Sassy.

Let me tell you a little bit about my babies.

Midnight (4), Mr. Jingles (3), Skunkboy (3) and Smokey (1) are all Sassy's babies. Sassy is 5 years old. She laid on top of the basket when Skunkboy died. Midnight prowled around for 3 days looking for him. Mr. Jingles looked for a little while, but not like Midnight. Smokey could really have cared less. What is funny is every single one of these cats were picked out by Sam, except for Sassy, I picked her out.

Smokey was to be given to his exgirlfriend, but she ended up not taking him. I think this is why Sam doesn't like him so well. Smokey loves to play fetch, and will actually jump up and catch the ball. We play that all the time. Smokey ended up being my cat. He is  great lover kitty. He is really good at making you feel better when you are down.

Midnight was born the same night the Rachel had her daughter on the first airing of Friends. The very exact minute. When Rachel's baby came out so did Midnight. I wanted to name her what they named their baby, but the guys vetoed that idea. Midnight loves to come in and wake you up by giving you kisses on the nose and mouth. When she walks on you she tippy toes and you aren't really sure if you have a kitten walking on you or her.

Mr. Jingles. He had the softest fur I know as a baby. You can rub his fur a certain way and you can still feel it, but he will pop you when you do. We had him and Skunkboy fixed when they were a year. Mr. Jingles got really fat. Sam said when we cut off his balls we took away his reason for living. He got his name from the movie The Green Mile. Yes, we named a cat after a mouse. Mr. Jingles also walks really soft. For as fat as he is you can't tell if it is him or Midnight. He loves to lay on Scott's belly and curl up under his chin. Very cute picture that I am going to have to take soon.

Skunkboy got his name because when he was born he had black fur and white tips. Hard to describe. IF you look at a older black cat you can see some white in their fur. Kind of like a salt and  pepper thing going on. He really got carried away with the salt...lol He had the M that most cats have on his forhead, but all you could see was the V part of it. He looked like a skunk when you looked at him in the face. He was about 4 months old when I went to KC for a week, and when I came back I accussed Scotty and Sam of getting another cat to replace him. He was all black when I came back. He would look at us when we called his name like, "Why in the heck did you name me Skunkboy? I don't stink."
Skunkboy also played fetch. They say that is the mark of a really smart cat. He was smarter than those other cats though. When Scotty was in the room I would throw the ball and he would walk over to it and look at Scott to fetch it. He trained Scotty to fetch the ball. He would fetch the ball for Sam and me, but if Scotty was in the room he would expect Scotty to pick it up and throw it again, or give it to me to throw for him. Really was quite the picture.
Sassy's original name was Sissy because we already had Midnight's daddy, R.O.S.E.B.U.D., Dick Van Dyke fans knows what his name means. We were going to call her Sissy, but everytime you would talk to her, or walk by her she would sass you. So we
decided that Sassy suited her better. She will ignore you if you want to give her some loving. She will growl at you if you pick her up and hold her, but if she is laying on a chair and you walk by without speaking to her and a quick rub over with your hand she will let you know that you have done her wrong and you better fix it.

Rosebud ran off. He escaped out of the house and didn't come back after he had two sets of kittens with Sassy. I think he heard us talking about getting him fixed. What guy wouldn't run if he heard he was getting his nuts cut off?

Smokey's daddy was a stray that came in when we had a bad ice storm. When it got spring time CKY or kitty kitty went outside and didn't want back in. He just wanted shelter from the cold and ice. He got hit by a car about a week after he went back out.

We take in a few strays when it is cold. If they come to the door hungry and it is really cold and freezing out we will bring them in. Sam will too. This is how CKY came in. When they want out they we let them out. They really aren't strays. The lady up the street has alot of outdoor cats and they wander down here from time to time. So we know they are well taken care of, but if they want to come in for a bite to eat they are allowed to come in. We don't have the problem in the summer time. They take care of themselves then. The wintertime is when we have the hard time saying no to them. They are outdoor cats and she has shelter for them set up, but sometimes it is the older ones that need the extra heat so they know they can come down here and find warmth.

Of course we have our 5 dogs that are outside. Cliff and his two sibs. (anyone need a 3 month old puppy) Cliff's mom, Sweety, and a little white one named Snow Angel. We want to keep Cliff, but are looking to get rid of the rest. I can't afford to feed them all. Plus if we lived in the country it would be very different. I would let them run the country side, but my fenced in backyard is getting a little cramped for them. In the winter when it is really cold they will come in at night. We don't like to let any babies freeze outside in the winter time.

Those are my babies. Thanks for reading about them, and looking at my garters.

Now I have to get moving so that I can get my house straightened up for Sam when he gets home this week. I am sooooo excited. So is his dad.
